Tips for Potty Training Girls

Potty training is a responsibility that every parent should take seriously.  Although the process can be difficult, there are ways to make it enjoyable for both parents and kids.  Luckily for mothers, potty training girls usually does not require as much perseverance and patience than potty training their sons.

Here are some helpful tips:

  1. The key toward potty training, regardless of gender, is to determine the readiness of the child.  No matter how much time and effort you put into the training, when the child is simply not ready for it, a parent will only encounter frustrations.  Potty training is not something that is forced or hurried.
  2. Mothers are looked upon by their daughters as role model.  This perception plays a critical role in successfully potty training girls.  As toddlers learn often by imitation, mothers can correctly demonstrate to their daughters the proper way to use the bathroom.
  3. Potty training tools and equipment can be a parent’s best ally when teaching their toddlers the proper way to “pee” and “poop”.  Using decorative or attractive potty training seat, for instance, can significantly help in orienting your daughter to properly eliminate her wastes.
  4. Guide your daughter to conveniently and comfortably use her own potty training seat.  Encourage her to play with the chair until she gets used to it and treat it as her own.  The important thing here is to enable the child to associate the potty seat with positive feelings.  This way, the child learns how to use the potty seat in significantly lesser time and more effectively.

Good behavior and habits are reinforced positively.  For every correct act, parents should reward their children with generous praises.  Parents, particularly the mother should serve as the best example for their daughters.  This is the best way to potty training girls.
